Wrap up # 4

It's again more then a week ago since I've posted something here - I guess time flies when you have to learn for your exams. Anyway, I found some real nice stuff on the blogosphere and in our inbox, and by nice I mean: music that you can party at even when you're doing the dishes (God knows how many times I've did it).

I'll start with a fresh remix from Harvard Bass, the dude who left Harvard to get his dj career started (too bad Leuven Bass sounds so shitty, or I could follow the same path). I think he made the right choice, there's enough time to study when you're tired of the dj'ing. And it's some damn nice pocket money too! But let's get back to the point, the remix we're talking about here is one for Felix Cartal's "World Class Driver". It's sticky, heavy and with a few scary vocals, what else do you need?

Up next is a new Ep from Figure, which is always something that makes me walk around with a big smile on my face for the rest of the day. The atmoshpere is rather grim in this batch of tunes, the title makes it clear already: it's about torture muthafucka! Lot of cool vocals in this one, and the whole Ep contains remixes from Hostage, Udachi and Noise Floor Crew and a b-side called "Bitches". My favourite picks are the original and the Udachi remix, the first one is available for your listening pleasure for free below, for the second track you will have to pay a visit to Beatport.

A mixtape from my favourite whore bosses Mustard Pimp is always worth to share, especially since it's been such a long time since I've posted one. This is the first installment in a new series, the Catastrophe mixtapes. They promise to bring more of them during the coming year, let's hope they keep that promise! Their album is about to drop at the beginning of 2011, I'm already psyched!

And before've even had time to notice, you have ended up at the last part of this post already! "Oooooh no", I hear you scream, "I want more!". OK THEN, (spoilt bastards) here's another banging tune, from the master of sticky, silly, happy songs: Sticky K! He remixed Maru from Pance Party, and he definitely gave it his trademark. Enjoy!

Religious acapella songs

At the Rock Werchter festival in the beginning of July, Shameboy was one of my highlights. Making the whole marquee go crazy at 3 o clock in the afternoon, not many have succeeded in that. Apart from their older hits, they also played some new stuff like their remix for Kelis - Acapella. It was the last song they played, and in my opinion it was one of the best. Kelis herself made some promo for it on her website, so she must be very proud too. Below is the video from the festival, it's definitely worth a look.

Felix Cartal was losing some of my respect, because he used to be such a nice and innovative electro producer, and ever since his album he seemed only to get softer and softer. To prove to you that he still knows how to make a banging electro track, I have a remix he did for his own "Volcano" track. I think this version is 10 times better than the original - it's 10 times harder.
I also have a remix from "Berlin", made by Religion. I'm definitely going to look after some more stuff from these guys, they really made me bang my head with this one.

When I grow up I want more time to keep this blog alive

I will really try to get the posting back to a normal rate from the moment that the new university year starts (late september), but for now I can only do my best to bring you some fresh banging stuff.

The Illstm promo mixtape for All Leather's Remix Ep (15 remixers for 5 songs) has arrived a few days ago, and it surely will give you an uncontrollable urge to dance (and to buy the full EP on the 17th - which is today). Even when the style of remixes is very different, this guy is still able to pull brilliant transitions out of his sleeve. Respect for that! Also, he finally seems to get a bit of the attention he deserves - making the official promo mixtape for one of Dim Mak's biggest artists. Enjoy!

F2U is a project that began as one of the lucky dudes who caught our attention by mail, and now I am regularly amazed by the stuff they pump out. Their first Ep, released on Cheese & Leek Soup records, is called "Black Circus". We have got a green light to share some tracks of that Ep, so here they are! The original "drown the clown" mixes ravey and distorted beats with a more classic piano sample, the result is perfect to set a festival tent on fire. Noize Generation's remix is a more classic trash song, but nobody said there's anything wrong with that - the 2 versions are sick! Check other tracks by them on their soundcloud.

Bonus:

Jack Beats song "revolution" was a blog hit a few weeks ago, and a few months earlier even a setrip would make bloggers go nuts. Supported by Crookers and probably loads of others, but I'll just mention the crookers because I heard them play it myself. Talking about summer hits and things that make people freak - Where is Barbra Streisand from Duck Sauce?!?

Time's a bitch

Time's a bitch, especially when you're already running low on it...
Due to the combination of my holiday job and my re-exams, it took me way to long to find a moment where I could check all our mails. So sorry for the long waiting, I hope that my choice of songs will compensate your lack of trash-music...

I'll start with Trashing Teenagers, those 2 bastards seem to get better and better every minute! I have a downloadable original, which must be one of the most distorted tracks ever made. Don't let your parents hear this, or you'll get sent straight to the psychatric hospital for "thinking noise is music". So, only listen when you're able to put the volume at its fullest!

I could basically throw all their remixes in, but after a few listens the one they made for Haezer turned out to be my favorite. Check their other remixes on their Soundcloud!

Haezer Ft Circe - Here Come The Punks (Trashing Teenagers Remix)PREVIEW by TrashingTeenagers?!

After Trashing Teenagers, even guys like Krftkds and Trashthis sound like some sort of classical componist when compared at heavyness. But that's probably just my ears who are happy to get some rest. This track will be able to please a greater amount of people, but the real trash lovers have found one of their new Gods in the teenagers.
Don't get fooled - this still is way too heavy for your mom!

Bonus:

Every summer, there are overplayed songs that I sort of liked in the beginning, but that irritate me after I hear it played by dj's. Other tracks, like "we no speak americano", have been a pain in the ass for me from the very first that I heard them. "One", from the Swedish house mafia is a song that fits in category 2 - I never saw what was so special about it. But if a guy named Rocco Rampino, aka Congorock, remixes it... You can never know what to expect! The overall feeling of the track can be compared to his own masterpiece "Babylon".
