Blowin up Ep review

Sawgood sent me his complete "Blowin UP" Ep, if I promised that I'd do a review.
Fair deal if you ask me! This Ep should normally have been out on beatport yesterday, but due to some technical problems it wasn't untill somewhere this afternoon. Allright, let's get busy!

Tracklist:
Sawgood feat Gigi Barocco, Loc e & Agag - Blowin up (original mix)
Sawgood feat Gigi Barocco, Loc e & Agag - Blowin up (Shekel remix)
Sawgood feat Gigi Barocco, Loc e & Agag - Blowin up (Calvertron remix)
Sawgood feat Gigi Barocco, Loc e & Agag - Blowin up (The Boomzer remix)
Sawgood feat Gigi Barocco, Loc e & Agag - Blowin up (Ikki remix)

The original mix is in my opinion the best track on the Ep, decent electro stuff mixed with raps from Loc E and A girl and A gun. Gigi's trademark, silly fidget (which is great, silly doesn't mean stupid here), blends perfectly with Sawgood's harder, bloody attitude.

Ikki, the Spainard who got famous with his heavy metal remixes, signs up for the best remix on the EP. He makes the original harder, and more fidget-like.

Shekel, an Isralian dubstep producer, gives the dubstep lovers exactly what they are looking for. Nasty wobbles and trashed vocals!

I was pretty disappointed to hear the Calvertron remix, he has done much better things than this.
The Boomzers remix gives the original a trashy make-over, love it or hate it! Unfortunately I couldn't find a preview somewhere, so you will just have to believe me on my word. I was digging this remix, but I can imagine a lot of people not liking it because it's too trashy and simple. There's no accounting for tastes, right?

Buy the whole thing on beatport!

How to blow up a helicopter

Sawgood & Gigi Barocco will be releasing their new ep "Blowin up" (out today)! To promote this event, Sawgood is giving away his "what that fake". This track is a funny commentary on the media buzz around the skins parties, he uses vocals from a female French newscaster, and mixes those with high pitching synths and trashy electro. Now you know what a skins party is!

Sawgood - what that fake

This is a teaser for the Ep, with a preview of all the remixes. Calvertron, Ikki, The Boomzers and Shekel! This is gonna be huge, all of the remixes got me banging my head!

Deafman, the guys from the amazing tune "Diskett", actually have a lot more good stuff than this one track. The video below is a recording of their take on Vitalic's "Poney Part 1", remixed live for the camera. I found another remix from them which was amazing, their remix for Aerotronic's helicopter! I wasn't quite digging the original to be honest, but if you listen to this, you just can't stay calm. The rave feeling of the original stays intact, and in my opinion, it gets even more ravey!

I am the pope of dope!

My excuses for the 3 days without a single post, but I had a very busy, very nice weekend full of parties and family stuff. But now I'm back with a shitload of electro bangers, I'm sure you will enjoy them!

Almost a full year after the release of the original "Cherry/Kiwi"-EP, Mustard Pimp comes out with a new Ep, full of remixes. The dopeness comes from some ratrabbit-favorites, Blatta & Inesha, Gtronic, Ikki, Chewy Chocolate Cookies,... None of these tracks will leave you behind disappointed, but my favorites are the Gtronic, Blatta & Inesha and Gigi Barocco remix. Naughtiness everywhere! Buy the whole damn thing on Beatport!

1. Cherry ft. Kali (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)
2. Cherry ft. Kali (Blatta & Inesha Remix)
3. Cherry ft. Kali (Taku Takahashi Remix)
4. Cherry ft. Kali (Rayflash Remix)
5. Cherry ft. Kali (Ikki Remix)
6. Cherry ft. Kali (Ajapai Remix)
7. Kiwi (Gtronic 'Big Bass' Remix) Gtronic's "Just another Bass mix" (not the official rmx, but it doesn't sounds very different)
8. Kiwi (Gigi Barocco Remix)
9. Kiwi (Booty Bronx Remix)

"I am the pope of dope, I am from Wallifornia. Dirty sound from Belgium, WOA, WOA!"
The Subs teamed up with the Partyharders squad to make the track "Pope of Dope". Let me tell you that the outcome is even better than the title of the track. Some silly vocals usually do the trick, and if they are boosted by a phat bass, nothing can go wrong anymore! BOOM!

The Australian duo The Aston Shuffle released their new Ep "I wanna see you" last friday, and it contains 3 banging remixes, from which I will share to you the most banging ones: Harvard Bass and Malente. Dancefloor burning shit, what else could you expect from our hero Victor Ramos (Aka Harvard Bass)? The one from Malente might even be better, nice build-ups, breakdowns and everything in between. Mjammjam!

The Aston Shuffle - I wanna see you (Malente remix) (removed on request)

Bonus:
And there's even a bonus track, highly recommended!
Good old Blatta & Inesha never disappoint me, 2 remixes from them in the same post: dopeness like only the pope can do!

Run for the Riot

I guess not much of you have already heard from RunRiot, a 24 year old producer (real name Tom Young) from the UK. He has only started this project in January 2009, but he already has some critical acclaimed productions up in his sleeve. His new Ep "Take my hand" is now available on his record label "We are live", so if you like the remix I am giving you, give that one a chance too!

Double 99 - Rip Groove (RunRiot rmx)

This is a compliation of some of the gigs he played last summer, crazy footage!

Gigi Barocco always had something with poppy lyrics, and this one is no exception to that trademark. Remixes like these give the ladies in the crowd something to do, while the boys still have a sick bassline to bust a move on.

Why do Italians always do it better?!?

Gigi Barocco is one of the many extremely good Italian producers of the moment. He has a sound which is slightly different from his countrymen like Congorock, Blatta & Inesha, Crookers,... He gives his song a funny touch, a side of his personality that can also be seen in his live appearance: In a fluo green bathrobe, a frog mask and most of the time drunk as hell. His track Puah got played by big guns everywhere around the globe, and it kickstarted his dj-career. Now he's playing at party's all over Europe, so if he's around, go and have a look! Here are his latest 2 banging tracks, an original and his remix for Will Bailey's "hustlin and scratchin".

Gigi Barocco - the Rhythm

And his most recent episode in his mixing series "pass the butter":

Bonus:
Not all Lee Mortimer's productions get me jumping, but this one definitely did! Lee pushed the vocals under the radar with a pumpin' bassline, and the result is brilliant!
