Mustard Pimp has finally released their Schinichi Osawa remix, to give a little bit of extra promotion for their "Rock Paper Scissors" Ep, which is coming out the 15th of june on Beatport. The 29th it's available everywhere, in the meantime, ejnoy this one!
Sawgood made a brand new mixtape, called "the bacteria mix part 1". It starts real dark and heavy, and gradually gets a bit lighter, with some dubstep and drum & bass parts. A perfect mixtape to lower the pressure caused by fuckin' exams!

The original mix is in my opinion the best track on the Ep, decent electro stuff mixed with raps from Loc E and A girl and A gun. Gigi's trademark, silly fidget (which is great, silly doesn't mean stupid here), blends perfectly with Sawgood's harder, bloody attitude.
Ikki, the Spainard who got famous with his heavy metal remixes, signs up for the best remix on the EP. He makes the original harder, and more fidget-like.
I was pretty disappointed to hear the Calvertron remix, he has done much better things than this. The Boomzers remix gives the original a trashy make-over, love it or hate it! Unfortunately I couldn't find a preview somewhere, so you will just have to believe me on my word. I was digging this remix, but I can imagine a lot of people not liking it because it's too trashy and simple. There's no accounting for tastes, right?
Sawgood & Gigi Barocco will be releasing their new ep "Blowin up" (out today)! To promote this event, Sawgood is giving away his "what that fake". This track is a funny commentary on the media buzz around the skins parties, he uses vocals from a female French newscaster, and mixes those with high pitching synths and trashy electro. Now you know what a skins party is!
This is a teaser for the Ep, with a preview of all the remixes. Calvertron, Ikki, The Boomzers and Shekel! This is gonna be huge, all of the remixes got me banging my head!
Deafman, the guys from the amazing tune "Diskett", actually have a lot more good stuff than this one track. The video below is a recording of their take on Vitalic's "Poney Part 1", remixed live for the camera. I found another remix from them which was amazing, their remix for Aerotronic's helicopter! I wasn't quite digging the original to be honest, but if you listen to this, you just can't stay calm. The rave feeling of the original stays intact, and in my opinion, it gets even more ravey!

The first dude who will get his bit of attention today is Illstm. He teamed up another time with A Girl and a Gun (their first collabo resulted in the beast of a track named "Uppercut"), and created Moctezuma. This is Illstm at his best, and it eases the pain that I had when hearing that Blanka Kidz wouldn't ever see the light of birth... Due to some technical issues, he can't complete the track. So the only bit of it we will ever get to hear is the 1 minute piece in his OMGITM mix. Anyway, he's real busy at the moment, rumors about a release on Ed Banger together with Sawgood are circulating... (Or not, apparently it was just an april fool... Stupid me!)
I was also really digging this remix he made for Playdoe's "Ice cream". Released on Leonizer records together with 8 other remixes and another original.
BAM! That's how hard Gtronic's new track, Sucker Punch wil hit you! Released on Dim Mak or Lektroluv recs, it's going fast for this guy! After one or two Ep's on Dim Mak he's signed exclusive to Lektroluv for 3 years. And we all know what happened with Sound of Stereo when they got signed to Lektroluv... After the Zipper Ep on lektroluv came Flatland (wasn't really digging that one to be honest) on Dim Mak, and now they have just finished touring North America. Belgium for the win! No new track or remix from tha G at the moment, just keeping you posted.
Depuis 91 is a Belgian trio or Quattro (having a big dick is apparently a very important thing for these dudes, that's why they have the fourth member). I am liking the way they present themselves, not taking the whole thing to serious, but they have some dope tracks up in their sleeve. Melodic and hard at the same time, the real Ratrabbit way...
In our interview with Sawgood, he mentioned that he would soon be releasing an ep on plasmapool records. This Ep was released on the 20th of february, and it contains some serious partystarters!
All three tracks have this fidget tone, "Clowny" is the most wobbly one. "Rock it" is my personal best, the vocals really get me going. "Sawsage" is the hardest, darkest of the Ep. I know that's not much words to describe how good it is, I'll give you some names from peeps who played it already: Stereoheroes, Blatta&Inesha, Hostage, Gigi Barocco, Mustard Pimp,... So... why are you still reading this?
Figure from Florida keeps on surprising me with original tunes, his "The Warriors" remix was a fucking bomb, and this new track I'm about to give you is something special aswell. It might not be so mindblowing as his rmx of the aforementioned, but it did scare me a bit. And I mean that in a good way. I liked the spacey, synthy build-ups, and the techno beats at the break get me jumping, which is what I look for in electro music.
Like I said in my previous post, Clément Mulot from Sawgood promised us an interview. With our crappy French, and his sucky English, this sure wasn't easy, but because music is a universal language, we managed to get some valuable information out of him.
So Clement, let's start with your latest track "Teenage blitz": how did you came up with the idea to make a track with A girl and a gun? Did you contacted her, or did she made the first move?
I heard her voice on myspace, and I loved it immediately! So I decided to make her a piece, and she made some vocals for it. Then she did a remix contest with these vocals, but I didn't participated on that one because Crux records would release them under contract.
What's your idea of a perfect party? A room to relax, my friends, some beers, wodka, a metro, a taxi, 50000 watt's, a dj, a party room, and my girl. And you?
My perfect party is a dancefloor packed with partypeople, who are jumping, screaming, crowdsurfin',... And a dj who's partying like a fool. Talking about a fool, at Fight Klub in Brussels you were sharing the decks with Huoratron. What was it like? It was amazing! I don't listen to tons of music, I just have a list with a dozen of artists which I'm really, really digging. Life would be hard without their imputs! Bands like Noisia, Spor, Huoratron, Kissy Sell Out, Dilemn, Proxy, No Money, … , just all those producers which created their own beautiful and immediately recognizable sound. So sharing the decks with huoratron was pretty awesome!
Kissy sell out played some of your tracks some months ago. How come he picked you? Andare there some other big guns who played your tunes? Ah, that's story is really cool! One day, Kissy (which really is one of my biggest idols) changed his myspace status. I commented something funny on that, and the next moment, he sent me an e-mail to say that he was really loving my music! If I gave him some 320-bpm versions, he would give me some support. Since then, he has helped me with every new song that I produce. There are also some big dj's who have helped me, like Calvertron and Defunct!, who remixed my first Ep (called pompin'). Famous dj's who played my songs include: Bloody Beetroots, Blatta&Inesha, Mustard Pimp, Hostage,...
Impressive list! I hope that there will be loads of others who can be added to it after this ep!Do you have a favorite Belgian dj/producer?
Basically, I start with making a synth that sounds like I love it (a heavy and pumpin' bass), then I make a melody with that synth, and I finish it up with a rhythm. It's often very dirty and a bit messy, so I have to remodify everything. Then I put the things in who are still missing ( leads, fx, ghost drums), and I clean it up.
Do you prefer dj'ing or producing?
That’s a difficult one. I’m actually a real composition geek, I can’t get sleep without thinking about a fat beat or a cool riff. I also love to play for an audience, but I’m not a real dj. Sometimes I’m afraid that the people won’t like it, afraid to be too much in my own world. If I have the certainty that people love what I do, I might even be willing to compose live on stage!
Beer or something stronger?
Both, my friend… I always start and end with beer. That’s also the reason why I’m coming back to Belgium soon!
What are your future plans?
Oh man, I have loads, tons of plans! A lot of feats., with Stereoheroes, Blatta&Inesha, Calvertron and an unknown Russian dj. A lot of remixes will be coming your way soon, and I also have planned a release of my third Ep on Plasmapool.
Sawgood is making "chainsaw-electro", the electro that makes me willing to lose myself into the music and party forever.
