Wrap up # 4

It's again more then a week ago since I've posted something here - I guess time flies when you have to learn for your exams. Anyway, I found some real nice stuff on the blogosphere and in our inbox, and by nice I mean: music that you can party at even when you're doing the dishes (God knows how many times I've did it).

I'll start with a fresh remix from Harvard Bass, the dude who left Harvard to get his dj career started (too bad Leuven Bass sounds so shitty, or I could follow the same path). I think he made the right choice, there's enough time to study when you're tired of the dj'ing. And it's some damn nice pocket money too! But let's get back to the point, the remix we're talking about here is one for Felix Cartal's "World Class Driver". It's sticky, heavy and with a few scary vocals, what else do you need?

Up next is a new Ep from Figure, which is always something that makes me walk around with a big smile on my face for the rest of the day. The atmoshpere is rather grim in this batch of tunes, the title makes it clear already: it's about torture muthafucka! Lot of cool vocals in this one, and the whole Ep contains remixes from Hostage, Udachi and Noise Floor Crew and a b-side called "Bitches". My favourite picks are the original and the Udachi remix, the first one is available for your listening pleasure for free below, for the second track you will have to pay a visit to Beatport.

A mixtape from my favourite whore bosses Mustard Pimp is always worth to share, especially since it's been such a long time since I've posted one. This is the first installment in a new series, the Catastrophe mixtapes. They promise to bring more of them during the coming year, let's hope they keep that promise! Their album is about to drop at the beginning of 2011, I'm already psyched!

The Subs teamed up with the Partyharders squad to make the track "Pope of Dope". Let me tell you that the outcome is even better than the title of the track. Some silly vocals usually do the trick, and if they are boosted by a phat bass, nothing can go wrong anymore! BOOM!

The Australian duo The Aston Shuffle released their new Ep "I wanna see you" last friday, and it contains 3 banging remixes, from which I will share to you the most banging ones: Harvard Bass and Malente. Dancefloor burning shit, what else could you expect from our hero Victor Ramos (Aka Harvard Bass)? The one from Malente might even be better, nice build-ups, breakdowns and everything in between. Mjammjam!

Harvard Bass march chart

Harvard Bass got his ass kicked and was robbed in LA, but he was kind enough to post his best songs of the month at the Sound Pellegrino blog. The most of these tracks aren't available for us, mortal people, like the new dj edjotronic song (not djedjotronic anymore, he changed his name a bit) and his own new remixes. But we have that last song from the chart for you, and like Viktor shows: thumbs up!

Maxx Bett - Soccer girl


I'm really becoming a sucker for everything Figure pumps out, his style seems to change everytime (he has made dubstep, wobbly bass, techno, and some things in between). And everytime, he nailed it. His latest release on one for all records is pointing straight to the dancefloors, with some cool club vocals in "War Fair". "The Doses" is one for all you drug addicts out there, but if you aint enslaved, you'll probably enjoy this one too.

More slaying the bass!

Sharkslayer and Harvard Bass... They just continue to amaze! I already did a few posts about them, but I thought that these songs were good enough to give them another post.

Eat This Hardcore Fuckers!

You all know these stupid hardcore remixes for rock songs like "Nothing Else Matters" (Metallica), now someone took revenge! With this dubstep remix for Neophyte & Dj Paul Elstak's classic "98 to piano", The Stint (Modek's side project) did a good job.

The creepy atmosphere stays, but now the pounding basses are replaced by typical dubstep sounds. The video that is made for it, in which the maker used some parts of the classic horror movie "Poltergeist", is definitely worth a look.

Slaying the bass!

Harvard bass and Sharkslayer are definitely two of the hottest producers at the moment, their records are being spinned by the likes of Crookers, Sound of Stereo, Congorock, and many more.

Sharkslayer's roots lay in finland, were we can also find Huoratron (the man with the beard). Their style is very different though, Huoratron has some very trashy electro tunes in his portfolio, while Sharkslayer makes fidget. But just listen to it yourself, why talk about genres here? These tracks are worth a bit of your precious time for sure!

Harvard Bass' career got a kickstart because crookers played his song "caked" a couple of times, and then the other usual suspects followed. This californian producer releases a lot of tracks on sound pellegrino, the label that, in my opinion, will become as huge as ed banger records once was. His remix for Beni's "maximus" was played by almost all the artists I checked at I love techno, the words "maximus, dance with us" were everywhere. The Acid Girls remix was a song that was unknown to me before the event, but unknown does not mean unwanted in this case!
