More free tracks

What's up with all the free tracks these days, it sure is becoming a hype between the producers nowadays. Also Modek is following the hype. He gives us '3 2 1 Go', not a real banger but it has a lovely bassline (like all Modek songs actually). Listen to it, download it, blabla you know what to do...

Yes, also The Chaotic Good is giving his latest song he did with Orville Kline away for free. Life is good, I know. Game Over isn't a banger either, but it has some hard synths and a great beat. For those who know The Chaotic Good, you'll hear that it's a TCG song because of the atmosphere he puts in all his songs.

Wasted Basterds, Life Express and Modek

Pierrick de Stexhe, also known as Wasted Basterds, is a guy to keep your eyes on. This isn't the first post we did about him (Rather the third/fourth), but he just really deserves it. He's only 16 (almost 17) and already his production are off the fucking hook. Take a listen to his last song and just hear the professionality dripping off the entire song.

Got this one in my mailbox yesterday, an EP of Life Express. There is one original and 3 remixes on it, but I'm only into the original. The original kicks off a little wierd, when I first heard it I didn't expect it to be electro, but at 2:00 it turns into an electro banger like those Transformers turn from cars into robots.

At last I have for you the Modek remix on Transient by Clash the Disko Kids. To be honest, i'm really not into the other tracks on the EP. But the Modek remix just has this awesome feeling and sound. I'm just in love with the bass starting at 0:29!

The perfect prescription

Mental Groove records, the label from French electro god Don Rimini, released an absolutely amazing compilation about a week ago. It contains a bunch of old tracks (or at least some of them are already relaay old), that for some reason never got released. Things from Ado, Modek and Blatta & Inesha feat Edu K stand proudly next to stuff from artists that I had never heard from before this release, like Tagteam Terror, TiTan & Scuolo Furano and The Town.
All of the tracks on this release are pure gold, it's a real shame that no one released them earlier... I recommend you run to your record farmer as soon as you've finished reading this, or just be lazy and click on the beatport link I included below, because I know that you all like to be lazy.

To make your hand go to your wallet even faster, I have permission to share one of the tracks of the release for free. It just so happens to be one of my favorites, Pancadao Supersonico from Blatta & Inesha feat. Edu K. I have been craving for this track since the very first time I heard it, which was most likely in their own Omgitm mix from more than a year ago. The bassline just goes so well with the vocals, this track is an absolute dream!

There is only one thing left for me to do now...
Admitting that Don Rimini must bring more releases like this, he probably has tons of other beauty's like this up in his sleeve.

Go for it Don.
We all know you can do it!

Pink & trash

Modek has been really busy the last few months, with remixes for Nadisko, Rave Our Souls, The Oddword, Serial Chillers,... and his own "Mumps" Ep which was released on Kiez Beats (Check all Modek's productions here). To promote all that stuff, he decided to give away a track, called "Pink". It has a fat bass, big bleeps, and the crushed sound that we've all come to love as "trash".

Ado is giving away his remix for Modek's "Mumps" away for free, it's slightly less distorted then his original tracks. But you'd be mad if you let this one slip through your fingers, Ado is still sick! Whatever he says in his titles, don't get yourself fooled! His debut Ep will drop somewhere in september, so we'll keep you posted about that.

Trashing Teenagers have been featured here some time ago, but this time we have downloadable stuff! My favorite of the whole package is "Supernova", but their unfinished tracks sound very promising too! Their track on Basserk's Some tunes 4 compilation (Freakz on 66) was very noisy too, it might even be the trashiest thing on that cd... Buy that release on beatport here!

Don't we all love (I love) techno?

Deafman, a project where I have talked about a lot recently, are aiming for the big fat fish with their latest track. They participated at I love techno's big talent hunt (U love techno), with their track "Power to the people". They didn't promote it, but still it has a solid lead on all the other (At the moment that I'm writing this, 119 tracks are participating) entries, which is only fair if you ask me. Support and listen to the track here! (5 hearts of course!)
If they win this, the track will be released on beatport!

Nadisko released their first Ep on "Monkey see, monkey do!" the 27th of may, called Check your Disco. It contains 2 originals and 2 remixes (Serial Chillers and Modek), and it really gave me a tough time to pick my favourite... In fact I really don't have one, they are all great for different reasons! The 2 originals are noisy club bangers, and the Modek remix makes it even noisy-er. The Serial Chillers rmx has car alarms in it, but it surprisingly turns out to be something else than the plague called "Dutch House". That fact alone should convince you to give the Ep a listen! Buy it on Itunes, Beatport,...

Mumps

Modek's new Ep "mumps" is going to be released on Kiez Beats records, it will contain 1 original and 6 remixes. My favorites are Sick Boy's and the Sexinvaders remix, but you are allowed to pick your own poison on the soundcloud link below.

Gbd crew, another talented duo from Liège, made a minimix especially for our blog, 23 tracks in 6 minutes. Some real nice transitions, one big mash-up like he says himself. The tracks are all oldies from 2005 to 2008, which is why it's called "Old smoothie from space".
An interesting evolution in the internet promotion channels: Myspace is becoming less important, Facebook and Soundcloud are taking over (some artists even don't have a myspace, like VNDL). Soundcloud and Facebook give lots of more options to interact with your favorite producers, which is probably why things are changing like this.

This last thing does not have do to anything with music, just some weird science: some Argentine dude invented Holophonic sound. And what might that be, you think.
It's a special technique which makes the sound go circular (if you just listen it on your boxes, it won't work, use headphones!). Check the links below, they probably explain it better then I can.

The scientifical explanation

From every mountain side: let Belgian electronic music ring.

With this post I would like to introduce some Belgian producers which, in my opinion, haven't got yet the attention they deserve. Let's hope my little literary masterpiece will spread their word a bit!

First up is the 19 years old DJ/producer Jens De Kettelaere. Being one third of the Belgian electro/trash trio "Aerotronic", he also has a solo side project "X-Ettl".

After winning an internet competition X-Ettl had the honor to perform at Belgium's biggest electro festival "I Love Techno". Things haven't stopped growing and soon he will release his first solo EP on the german label "Dusted Decks". (Next to Fukkk Offf, Aniki, Saint Pauli,...)

The Ep, called "Jetgum" will include 4 tracks:

X-ettl - Jetgum
X-ettl - Ngin
X-ettl - Stride
X-ettl - Deadc4t

Because he wants to protect these tracks until their release, he is not sending them into the blog world, but you can hear some previews in this minimix.

X-ettl 30 min mixtape by X-ettl

X-Ettl has sent us another track he made in cooporation with the Belgian MC "Tizzi" (formerly known as Toastaz) . Mjammmie.

X-Ettl Feat. Tizzi - Sticks 'N Stones

The fourth of April he will be sharing decks with Busy P and Mr. Oizo at Liquid Sunday in Germany.

Bonus: Aerotronic - Helicopter

The next artist "Modek", Willem Claesen, has already made several huge originals and remixes. (formerly known as Mellow)

As "Mellow" he released his first EP, called, ... yes, Mellow. (Monkey See Monkey Do) Later on he released his Kamikaze EP (Buy) on Keatchen Records and in the future he will release his Hiroshima EP (Monkey see Monkey Do) and his Mumps EP (Kiez Beats)

I love his sound, because it is that extraordinary hard and trashy. His tracks should really hit more dancefloors.

Difficult to choose which tracks I would share with my fellow Ratrabbits, but here they are.

Modek - Kamikaze (Kamikaze EP)

Modek - Copperhead (Kamikaze EP)

Modek - Hoax (Kamikaze EP (Set Rip))

Modek - Hiroshima (Hiroshima EP)

Modek - Omnivore
(Hiroshima EP)

(5 tracks, still too hard to choose, but please buy the tracks if you like them.)

The last artist I am presenting, Vincent Pauwels, better known as VNNR and 26 years old, is also making his way to the top.

His remixes are dropped by artists such as Mr. Oizo, Busy P, Felix Da Housecat, and Don Rimini. (So I asked myself: who isn't supporting him?)

At the moment VNNR is working on a remix for Aerotronic, while an Aerotronic remix will feature on Modek's Mumps EP. The Belgian "harder" electro scene, seems to be one happy family.

I am posting two of his best remixes, not hard to find on the web, not fresh, but in my opinion they haven't got a really decent post somewhere.

Depuis 91 - Erotiq (VNNR Shake The Room Remix)

Somebody's Going Down Tonight - Duckkk (VNNR Remix)

Coming up is, as I said, his remix for Aerotronic, but also a remix for The Oddword's "Kortelas".

You can hear the preview in this video:

So, until here my little word of Belgian chauvinism. Of course I can continue my story and tease your ears once more with other Belgian artists, but my fingers tell me to keep that for an other episode.

I hope it got your attention.

Enjoy the tracks and support the artists!

Bonus:

I already said something about Proxy founding his own label, well, he finished his plan: http://makorecords.com/. Check it out guys.
