It's been a long time since I promoted something from the kraken, aka kraken heart here. The reason for this is quite obvious: the guy just took a short break from this project, to have more time to keep his other one (called Dropout Marsh, this is more dreamy and hypnotic than you're used too if you have heard the kraken already) alive. He's back in business now, his new mixtape is more bangin' than ever. It's actually a new mixtape project, no more Kraken tapes, but Beast tapes. Not that you'll notice, the sound stays the same. Thank God.
Doesn't that first track from the mixtape sounds familiar? Yes it does bitches! It's my homie Comic Strips from Pittsburgh, with his track "Drip Drop". I told you that he was going to rise fast, and for those pessimists who still don't believe what I'm saying, I have some more teasers for upcoming remixes from him. Absolutely lovely, as always!
Ok, so 1 day after I said we wouldn't be sharing so much mixtapes anymore... Kraken tape 4 comes out! So yeah, this was a little dilemma, but Kraken Tapes just happen to be so good. So of course I am sharing it! This one has some real nasty dubstep parts in it (like the 16 bit rmx of machine gun, maybe it was dubstep and not drum & bass after all), but the electro lovers get their shots too. In short, another very good mixtape from this guy, who is clearly a bit of a romanticus when it comes to the old pirate lifestyle (who isn't?).
Toxic is dead, one of the killer tracks by the Toxic Avenger, has been remixed an awful lot of times. Some of them were bangers, some didn't... So far nothing special, because that's how things always go. Now Owl Vision, a Swedish producer of "death electro" has sent us his re-interpretation of this track, and it got me jumping and screaming, even more than the original did. One of the best remixes you'll find of this beast of a track, enjoy!

Now it's time for one of my favorite new projects, Kraken Heart. The third Kraken Tape has quickly become one of my favorite all-time mixtapes (rumors about a fourth one are growing!!!) , and I've been begging the dude for tracks, but so far he hasn't fallen yet for my irresistible charms. Anyway, he has made a teaser to promote himself (he has used parts from the blockbuster Clash of the titans), and it has such a mysterious vibe over it, I'm curious to see what else he has in store for us!
The last track I'm sharing with you is one from Lektrobeerz, a duo that's not aiming for eternal fame and loads of money. What are they doing it for then? Beer, lots of beer. If they weren't making some dope tracks, this mission statement probably wouldn't bring them far. But their previous track "Frost" had that special thing that would work well in a club, and their new banger "Echo", definitely would get a crowd jumping. Sounds a bit like the first Sound of Stereo tracks, old-skool banging!
I'll start this post with some love for another blog, a blog where the posts are always well documented, where the songs are always a surprise, the writing done so sparkling and well formulated (but they are native English speakers, and we aren't),... To become as good as them is sort of a milestone we have to achieve. I am talking about Electrotoronto, a Canadian blog from, you've guessed it: Toronto. I don't like all the songs they post, but sometimes they really show a blindspot in my collection. The last beauty I got from their site, is a song from Simian Mobile Disco "Are you in the picture?". Normally I don't download stuff from them, but now I did. And this might not be typical ratrabbits stuff, but somewhere deep within... We should all love this track. Be warned, it's minimal-tech music, but not as we know it. Love! Let me know what you think of it, I'm kinda curious if a lot of people like it. Simian Mobile Disco - Are you in the picture?
The second part of my post will be a little more '"ratrabbit"-like. I recently discovered Kraken Heart, a french fidget producer. His tracks sound like someone put a fidget track in the sea, and then he recorded it under water. Maybe we should invent a new genre for this guy? Water-fidget? Check his myspace for his tracks, I was amazed. So anyway, he has a mixtape series, the Kraken tapes. The third installment of that project dropped in our inbox this night, exactly 40 minutes long, and full of fidget, dubstep, and lots of other tracks we love here at Ratrabbits.
